2018 Rookie Ratings

The EOTP Roster Project is back! All night we’ll be updating with our ratings for drafted rookies!

1st Overall – Cleveland Browns – Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield
B+ THP B+ SAC B- MAC C+ DAC B- RUN C- PAC D AWR Slow Dev.

Questions abound with Mayfield, but there’s no denying he has the talent to play in this league.

2nd Overall – New York Giants – Penn St. RB Saquon Barkley
A SPD A+ ACC B CAR C+ TRK A- ELU B- BCV B SFA A SPM A JKM C- CTH Star Dev.

Barkley just might be the best player in this draft.

3rd Overall – New York Jets – USC QB Sam Darnold
A THP B SAC B MAC C- DAC B- RUN C+ PAC D AWR Quick Dev.

The Jets land the guy touted to be the surefire no. 1 pick for months leading up to tonight.

4th Overall – Cleveland Browns – CB Denzel Ward
A SPD A ACC A- JMP C- AWR C- CTH B+ MCV C+ ZCV C+ PRS Star Dev.

Ward’s about as good as it gets in man coverage…but can he develop the rest of his game?

5th Overall – Denver Broncos – N.C. State EDGE Bradley Chubb
B STR B SPD B+ ACC D+ AWR B PMV B- FMV B+ BSH B+ PUR D PRC Star Dev.

Another player who may have gone earlier if not for the QB craze this year.

6th Overall – Indianapolis Colts – Notre Dame OG Quenton Nelson
A- STR C- AWR C+ PBK B+ RBK B- IBL Star Dev.

Nelson may have been the first pick if he weren’t a guard.

7th Overall – Buffalo Bills – Wyoming QB Josh Allen
A+ THP B- SAC B- MAC C DAC C RUN C+ PAC D- AWR Normal Dev.

The Bills traded up to get their guy, who has the biggest arm you’ll see in a while.

8th Overall – Chicago Bears – Georgia LB Roquan Smith
B+ SPD A- ACC B JMP C- AWR B TAK C BSH B- PUR C PRC B+ POW C- MCV C ZCV Star Dev.

Smith may be a little undersized but he’s got the stuff to be the best in the league.

9th Overall – San Francisco 49ers – Notre Dame OT Mike McGlinchey
C+ STR C- AWR B- PBK B- RBK B+ IBL Quick Dev.

This is a bit earlier than people expected for McGlinchey.

10th Overall – Arizona Cardinals – UCLA QB Josh Rosen
B+ THP B SAC B MAC C- DAC C- RUN B- PAC D AWR Star Dev.

The Cardinals moved up to get in front of the Dolphins and may just have gotten the steal of the draft.

11th Overall – Miami Dolphins – Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick
A- SPD A- ACC B- JMP D+ AWR B- CTH C+ TAK C- PRC C- MCV B- ZCV Star Dev.

Watch out for Minkah and Reshad Jones in that defensive backfield.

12th Overall – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Washington DT Vita Vea
A STR D+ SPD C- ACC D- AWR B- TAK C PMV D+ FMV B BSH C+ PUR F PRC Normal Dev.

Vea is a massive body to man the middle, but can he learn to push the pocket a bit more.

13th Overall – Washington Redskins – Alabama DT Da’Ron Payne
B+ STR C SPD C ACC D AWR B- TAK C+ PMV C- FMV B+ BSH C PUR D- PRC Quick Dev.

Payne is your typical Alabama DL that can do it all.

14th Overall – New Orleans Saints – UTSA EDGE Marcus Davenport
C STR B SPD B ACC D- AWR B TAK B PMV C+ FMV C+ BSH C PUR F PRC Normal Dev.

Davenport is a surprise pick given the Saints traded up, but there’s upside if he can be developed.

15th Overall – Oakland Raiders – UCLA OT Kolton Miller
C+ STR C- AWR C+ PBK B RBK B IBL Normal Dev.

It’s surprising that Miller went this early, but he has the tools to be a solid tackle down the road.

16th Overall – Buffalo Bills – Virginia Tech LB Tremaine Edmunds
B+ SPD B+ ACC B+ JMP D AWR B+ TAK C+ BSH C+ PUR D- PRC B POW D+ MCV C ZCV Quick Dev.

Edmunds can do it all and is a fantastic pickup in the mid-first.

17th Overall – Los Angeles Chargers – Florida State S Derwin James
A- SPD A- ACC A JMP D AWR C CTH B TAK D PRC C- MCV C- ZCV B+ POW Quick Dev.

It’s a surprise that James lasted this long. He may be limited to box work early on.

18th Overall – Green Bay Packers – Louisville CB Jaire Alexander
A SPD A ACC B JMP D+ AWR C CTH B MCV B- ZCV C PRS Normal Dev.

Alexander is very athletic and has all the tools but was very inconsistent throughout his collegiate career.

19th Overall – Dallas Cowboys – Boise State LB Leighton Vander Esch
B SPD B+ ACC A- JMP D AWR B TAK D+ BSH C+ PUR D PRC B- POW C- MCV C+ ZCV Normal Dev.

Vander Esch flies around the field and is a near clone of a young Sean Lee.

20th Overall – Detroit Lions – Arkanas OL Frank Ragnow
B STR C- AWR C+ PBK B- RBK B+ IBL Quick Dev.

Detroit netted a solid player who can step in immediately at guard or center.

21st Overall – Cincinnati Bengals – Ohio State OL Billy Price
A- STR C- AWR C+ PBK B RBK C+ IBL Quick Dev.

Price was expected by many to be a first round pick and he lives up to the hype being one of the stronger and more polished interior OL in this class.

22nd Overall – Tennessee Titans – Alabama LB Rashaan Evans
B SPD B+ ACC C JMP D AWR B TAK D BSH B- PUR D PRC B POW D+ MCV C- ZCV Normal Dev.

Tennessee moved up to get Evans and he shouldn’t disappoint with well above average athleticism for the position.

23rd Overall – New England Patriots – Georgia OL Isaiah Wynn
B- STR D AWR B- PBK B RBK A- IBL Quick Dev.

It’s curious that the Patriots announced Wynn as a tackle, but he’s got the tool set to start inside from day one.

24th Overall – Carolina Panthers – Maryland WR D.J. Moore
A- SPD A ACC A JMP B- CTH B SPC C+ CIT D RTE C- RLS F AWR Normal Dev.

Many predicted that Calvin Ridley would be the first receiver off the board, but instead the Panthers chose to go with the more spectacular choice in Moore.

25th Overall – Baltimore Ravens – South Carolina TE Hayden Hurst
C STR B SPD C+ JMP B+ CTH D+ RBK B- SPC B CIT D- RTE C RLS C AWR Slow Dev.

Hurst is the highest profile end in the class and should make an immediate impact for Baltimore.

26th Overall – Atlanta Falcons – Alabama WR Calvin Ridley
A- SPD A ACC C+ JMP B CTH B SPC C+ CIT B RTE D RLS C- AWR Quick Dev.

Ridley has the route running chops to step in immediately opposite Julio Jones.

27th Overall – Seattle Seahawks – San Diego St. RB Rashaad Penny
A- SPD B+ ACC B- CAR C- TRK B- ELU C+ BCV C- SFA B SPM A- JKM C- CTH Normal Dev.

This is a lot earlier than most thought Penny would go.

28th Overall – Pittsburgh Steelers – Virginia Tech S Terrell Edmunds
A- SPD A- ACC A JMP D- AWR C- CTH C- TAK F PRC C- MCV D+ ZCV Normal Dev.

Edmunds is considered a reach by many even this late in the first, but provides the Steelers with an athletic and flexible piece.

29th Overall – Jacksonville Jaguars – Florida DL Taven Bryan
C+ STR C- SPD – ACC F AWR B- TAK C PMV B- FMV C+ BSH B- PUR F PRC Slow Dev.

Bryan is a disruptive interior rusher who will need to work hard to get up to speed on the game.

30th Overall – Minnesota Vikings – UCF CB Mike Hughes
B+ SPD A ACC B JMP D- AWR C+ CTH C+ MCV B- ZCV B- PRS Normal Dev.

Hughes is a solid pickup who will need some work to contribute early on as a corner but is a deadly returner from day one.

31st Overall – New England Patriots – Georgia RB Sony Michel
B+ SPD A- ACC B- CAR C TRK B ELU B BCV C- SFA C SPM B- JKM D+ CTH Normal Dev.

Michel is New England’s type of runner – not high profile but proficient.

32nd Overall – Baltimore Ravens – Louisville QB Lamar Jackson
A THP C+ SAC C+ MAC C DAC B- RUN C PAC F AWR Slow Dev.

Jackson is going to require a good amount of work to get him pro-ready, but the talent to be great is there and that’s what the Ravens are counting on.

That’s it for tonight! We’ll be back tomorrow with more coverage of the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft!
